The ample range of accommodation combined with both good public and private transport make Sorrento an optimum base from which to make daily excursions and visits to the major interest areas of Campania.

The choice of method of transport to utilise to and from Sorrento depends largely on the location you wish to visit and your ideal way of traveling.

Sorrento offers an optimum public connection to the sites of Pompeii, Herculaneum and Naples, thanks to the Circumvesuviana train line that serves these locations every 20 to 30 minutes, and which stops in all central areas.  Also, the public connection between Sorrento and the island of Capri is recommened thanks to the number of hydrofoils and ferries that depart the port every hour, until late afternoon.

More difficult however are the public connections towards the Amalfi Coast and less frequent connections to the Naples Airport. There is only one company that serves the connection between the airport and the Sorrentine Peninsular and does not offer night connections (from after 20:00 in the summer and even earlier the rest of the year).
The network of private transport can therefore be very useful both as an alternative to public transport or as a means of spending a relaxing day without any type of stress.

In this case, there are many companies that offer a transfer service from Naples airport to Sorrento, also withvery advantageous prices and the utlisation of modern and comfortable cars.  What however is absolutely worthwhile is a boat excursion. Sorrento boasts a 30km coastline of extraordinary beauty, where myth and beauty come together, rendering an unforgettable day at sea.
